This analysis shows that grass is cheaper to operate in equipment maintenance but corn chaff DOES exceed grass production if you harvest the corn green. Grass = 0.195468(8)MH per Corn 0.212MH to match tonnage (or 0.23MH corn+digest) thus produces 1.085x faster and grows to "final state" faster. Grass = 0.13031(3)MH per Hectare to operate Since single pass of slurry operates 3x the width of largest corn planter but without need to additionally cultivate, total machine wear and time for non-harvest operation on grass field by man hour beats corn chaff field by 50% or better (the big Veen drizzler can then be fed by a tanker-runner in 2man) Total acreage covered by harvester averages out even (9x10 = 6x15) with grass producing 66% of corn with same harvester time but only one pass of slurry tanker. Grass harvest superior for time when using digestate requiring only subsequent ferts by digestate/weeding at any time after growth or before in 1state fert mode. Harvest speed for grain/grass head was 15kmh. Harvests were done using NH forage with NH 9m corn head and 6m grain/grass head into Trailer/Wagon pair of HK302's. Sosnovka Field 19 was used for this test, field was carefully sown each time with fertilizing sowers.
